This course is designed for facilitators and learning designers who are looking to design eLearning resources which are of a high quality, relevant to the learner and incorporate good instructional design practices. The course takes participants through the process of designing eLearning resources, from scoping to final design.
The program is a blended mode, delivered completely online through webinars and self-paced online content. The program is very hands on with participants required to design an eLearning resource as part of the program.
Aligning to the unit of competency TAEDES503A – Design and develop e-learning resources the course is structured into 5 distinct levels:
- Learning Theories and Instructional Design
Knowledge and experience in learning theories and instructional design is necessary to design e-learning resources. This topic will look at a range of the common learning theories and instructional design models.
- Scoping the eLearning Resource
Utilising the LXD Model to guide the design process, the first stage is scoping the requirements of the eLearning course. The learning objects in this topic will look at the different areas of the scoping.
- Determining Content for the eLearning Resource
This topic looks at the identification of the content areas required to develop the eLearning course.
- Structuring the eLearning Resource
Once the requirements of the eLearning course have been scoped, you can then start to develop the structure. This topic will look at how we will structure what the learners need to know.
- Designing the eLearning Resource
This topic looks at the design aspect of the eLearning course, looking at the media, visuals and other elements that can be used to deliver a quality learning experience.
Participants in this course will gain an in-depth understanding of how to design quality online training resources.
The course will allow them to apply the skills and knowledge to the development of an online training resource specific to their business or work context.
